Sarah and Kevin's story begins at a local coffee shop where Sarah's friend invited her to an open mic night. When she arrived, she noticed that her friend was talking to a tall awkward guy. After being introduced, they spoke for hours... the beginning of the conversation was dominated by Sarah's story of how she tried to make a vegan meal but ended up ruining it and crying. The story went on for a long time. Sometimes Kevin didn't know what to say; other times, he laughed. Whenever there was a moment of silence, Sarah would share more details about her disastrous meal. For some reason, Kevin thought her animated narrative was kind of funny and cute. He laughed at her story and she didn't mind. Later in the night, Sarah told Kevin that she was going home. They said goodbye, and Sarah started to walk to her car. Moments later, Kevin chased after Sarah to ask for her number. Sarah's face lit up and said yes. They didn't go on their first date until months later because Sarah was so busy going on dates with other people. The highly anticipated date was at a Saturday morning trash cleanup in Huntington Beach; Sarah thought it'd be a romantic activity. After picking up trash, they spent hours talking and laughing for much longer than they both had planned. The day flew by and they realized they both needed to leave. Kevin drove her home, walked her to her door, and kissed her goodbye. Seven years have passed since they first met and now Kevin and Sarah live together in Long Beach, California with their dog Lilly. Kevin also makes great vegan meals so Sarah cries much less than she used to.
